Geocache Description:

Steep climb with spectacular views!

Buckley Mountain towers over South Provo and North Springville, rising 5000 feet up from the valley floor. The North peak tops out at 9502 feet with the South peak reaching 9153 feet. The mountain was named after Newman Bulkley, who ran a gypsum mine near his home on Hobble Creek until a better gypsum source was discovered in southern Utah. Bulkley's name was pronounced "Buckley," so that spelling was given to the mountain. The views from both peaks are stunning, offering unobstructed views of Utah Valley and its spectacular surrounding peaks.

The easiest way up Buckley Mountain is its East side from Squaw Peak Road. In order to get there, however, you will need a high clearance vehicle. Depending on the weather and the season, you may also need 4-wheel drive as I did when placing this cache.
