A really gentle walk on almost level terrain from the final
cache location of Stairway to Hidden. Giving you time to rest and
really enjoy the views. You shall see (subject to weather!) the
River Conwy meandering down the valley. The big water main, leats
collecting every last drop of water they can and taking the water
to the Coed Ty reservoir.
The route is almost level because you follow the route of the
old tramway where small little trains used to chuff up and down to
go and do maintenance on the dam at Llyn Cowlyd.
At the final cache location, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DISMANTLE ANY
WALLS and you can enjoy a great view into the steep sided
glacial valley where Llyn Cowlyd slumbers.
You will see also be near the remains of the Mediaeval Township
of Ardda. Only a few households were still occupying this land in
the 17th century, but the field works and remains of old structures
help demonstrate how big this community was. I understand it was at
it's biggest in the 15th century.
Happy huntin'!
