It's Halloween Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Sir PhilPamAndRob: What has happened here?
Trees have been cut back (severeley), all the bushes (and brambles) have gone, and so has my cache!
Considering the new clear area I'm archiving this, even though the tree it was hidden in is one of the few that remain!

Geocache Description:

Halloween, or Hallowe'en, is celebrated on the night of October 31. Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, Halloween festivals, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses", carving jack-o-lanterns, and viewing horror films. Halloween originated from the Pagan festival Samhain, celebrated among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced it in the late twentieth century. Halloween is now celebrated in several parts of the western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia and New Zealand.

The term Halloween (and its alternative rendering Hallowe'en) is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", also which is now known as All Saints' Day.

Many European cultural traditions, in particular Celtic cultures, hold that Halloween is one of the liminal times of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world, and when magic is most potent (according to, for example, Catalan mythology about witches and Scottish and Irish tales of the Sídhe).

For Halloween we placed a new cache close to our home. The GPS coverage isn’t very good so will it trick you, or will you have the treat of finding it?

If you do find it, there is a Halloween themed ink stamp in the cache. Please do not remove it. Although its ink pad currently works, it’s very small so you’re advised to bring your own inkpad as backup if you want to use the stamp.

Finally, please take extra care with geo-kids. Not only is there plenty prickly stuff around here, but there is also a pond.

1st Nov 07 - Reports received that the Halloween Spooks were trying to trick people with the co-ords, so returned to check. Several reading now taken with N 53 23.159-177 and W 003 07 275-293. The FTF reported N 53 23.164 W 003 07.278 so you may want to try those as well! To help, you need to be IN the trees near the pond, NOT the field. I've also uploaded a semi-spolier picture. - Good Luck, thats why its difficulty 2.5!!!
