Geocache Description:

Harbor Family Park

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Harbor Family Park in the Gig Harbor area is a so far undeveloped 19 acre parcel of woods that was recently acquired for a community park after a successful local fundraising effort. Plans are for the Park to be developed into a baseball and soccer field complex. Until then the woods are a great site for a cache that should have a life of a couple of years or more, depending on development funding. Some notes: 1. There is safe parking at the corner of 70th Ave NW and 32nd St NW, with a sign about the future park and brochures. 2. There are a few faint, primitive trails, but some bushwhacking will likely be required. The forest undergrowth isn't too heavy, there's always a relatively easy way to get to the cache, if you think you need a machete you're working too hard. That said, there IS some bushwhacking, but the cache is only about 350 feet from parking. 3. WARNING: There are backhoe-dug trenches and test holes scattered about, evidently they were soil testing the property. If you pay attention you should have no trouble, if you don't you may find yourself suddenly six feet below ground level. BEWARE - Search at own risk. NOT RECOMMENDED AT NIGHT FOR THIS REASON. 4. The GPS signal may wander a bit due to the forest canopy. My coords are the average of 4 separate readings with a Garmin 60CSx. 5. Please do your best to replace the cache exactly as found.
