A welcome green space in a predominantly urban area. The park
has all weather paths and is accessible all year round.
Bedfont Lakes was the first country park to be built in London
for 100 years. It was once gravel pits and subsequently was used
for landfill, so much of the site is being vented and careful
ecological studies are being carried out. The nearby building
developments paid for the park to be built and created a trust fund
to keep it running.
The container is a small size plastic box covered in black
tape.
In summer there is long grass on the approach to the cache, in
which there are some small concealed logs. Be careful not to twist
an ankle walking in this grass.
Parking is available at either end of the park.
Bus route H26 runs between Feltham, Sparrow Farm and Hatton
Cross Underground Station. Bedfont Lakes is on the route. Route 116
operates between Hounslow Bus Station and Ashford Hospital. Alight
at Bedfont Green. Underground, take the Piccadilly Line to Hatton
Cross and then the H26 bus. Train, alight at Feltham Station and
catch the H26 bus.
The park is open every day except Christmas Day, from 08:00 to
21:00, or dusk if it is earlier. In winter, the Bedfont Road Car
Park can close as early as 16:00.
Handicache rating H33121, but last 10 feet to cache are in heavy
vegetation.
