Geocache Description:

Learnin'? Learnin'? We don't need no stinkin' learnin'!

Have you ever contemplated paperless caching but the necessary software overwhelmed you? Does the thought of using a PDA while hiking in the woods leave you feeling cold and empty? Are you not exactly sure what "PDA" means? Then you need to attend this event cache!

During the scheduled two hours -- 6pm to 8pm -- we hope to cover a bunch of topics, but we will mainly concentrate on GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) and CacheMate. These two software programs are used by many geocachers to help them plan their caching activities and to keep track of their finds. Depending on time there may be an opportunity to cover more geocaching topics of interest.

There will be two main presenters, both of whom claim some level of expertise with the software programs and both of whom have teaching experience. Nuwati has been caching since April 8, 2003 and currently has 1,446 finds and 52 hides. jratzlaf has been caching since May 28, 2005 and currently has 2,264 finds and 120 hides. (Stats are as of December 6, 2007.) I encourage others who are familiar with GSAK and/or CacheMate to attend as I am sure we will all benefit from our collective experiences.

The event will be held in the clubhouse of the Biltmore Park Swim Club, and there should be room for up to 50. As you sign up please include the dish (or dishes) you plan to bring, and I will update the cache page. Hopefully we won't all bring desserts, but worse things could happen!

Hope to see you all there!
