Double Cross Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ma n Pa: The area of the final is so overgrown that one must reach through seven or eight feet of dense brush and vines just to see the branch the cache is on. The entire tree looks as if it will be taken out soon, since it is all broken down and is a sore sight in the park. Sorry, but we feel it is best to archive this one.

Geocache Description:

This is a double offset cache. You will be looking for it in Normal’s Fairview Park. In good weather, this area can make a pleasant walk. You may wish to bring a pencil, paper, pocket calculator and a compass. Be careful of muggles, for they can see you from a long way off. Thanks to NPRD for permission to place this cache.

This cache has been moved due to critter problems. The following calculations are different from the original cache page.

You must locate a set of numbers which will lead you to a second set of numbers. These will take you to the final cache.

First, at the listed coordinates, you will find a three digit number, (not if there is snow)

” XXX A”

The second digit becomes B

Three times the first digit becomes C

The sum of the first and second digits becomes D

The first digit becomes E

Two minus the third digit becomes F

To locate the second set of numbers, go BCD feet at EEF degrees.

Here, you will find a four digit number, but not if there is snow.

”XXXX”

The first digit becomes G

One third of the second digit becomes H

Six minus the third digit becomes J

The second digit becomes K

To locate the final, go GHJ feet at KH degrees.

You can either use a compass and walk out the distance and direction or project a new waypoint with your GPS (consult your manual). If you need to convert from feet to miles, divide 5280 into the feet from the above figures.
