Gamble Place Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

poosu: Some of the abutters to this conservation area have taken to harassing cachers on the trails, so after 10 years and almost 200 finds I'm going to have to take them down.

Sorry

Geocache Description:

An easy series on a good trail. It's a 1.6 mile loop but there are currently 5 caches on this loop. No night caching

Gamble Place is an interesting bit of Florida history. In the late 1800's James Gamble of Proctor and Gamble fame bought this land for a retreat from his Daytona Beach winter home. At the time access was by boat up Spruce Creek from the Halifax River. The early attraction was hunting although a small citrus farm was located here later on. Tours are available through the Gamble estate as well as boat tours on Spruce Creek. Canoe and kayak rental is also avialable. You can also lauch your own canoe or kayak for a fee.

The cache is on the nature trail adjacent to the Gamble estate and Cracker Creek. Parking is at N25 05.495 W081 02.667. Anyplace off the road and not blocking the gate is fine. This is a daylight only cache at this time. The cache is about 50 yards off the yellow blazed trail. It is a Lock n Lock with a bit of camo fairly well hidden as I never under estimate the skill of muggles. Contains some swag and a FTF buck. Use the clue and it's easy. Lots of tree cover here but I seemed to get a good reading. Let me know if you agree or not. The area is not open at night.
