Rocky, fairly rough road. Cache is hidden near the vista. Elevation
is 1659ft. Your vehicle should have fairly good clearance. 4WD and
GOOD JUDGEMENT would be necessary in snowy conditions as there is
NO WINTER MAINENANCE and a steep climb to get to the vista and
cache site.
The cache is a metal ammo box. We recently replaced the old
gladware container because it was leaking and the log book was
soggy. The real fun of this cache is the view. It is phenomenal!
From the vista near the top of the Bald Eagle Ridge (the last major
ridge of the geologically folded ridge and valley province) the
view is North across the width of the West Branch Susquehanna
Valley and a quilted patchwork of cornfields right up the lower end
of the Pine Creek Valley and the flat topped Allegheny Plateau
province. This is hands down the best vista you can drive to in
Central PA in my humble opinion.
