Geocache Description:

The estuary of the Glen of Jarabina is located in the village Jarabina beyond a stone-pit, however, the access to it is from the hill above the village. Similarly as the surrounding highlands, it is formed of rocks from the Magura flysch of klippen belt with fossils. The glen which is not longer than 1 km and wide 100 m narrows down to only few meters towards its end. Its most beautiful part, the Breach of Jarabina, called Pece by the local inhabitants, is about 200 m long section from its estuary hemmed in by stone walls tall from 10 up to 20 m. One can find there 5 cascades and the riverbed with steep decline is surrounded by the glen wide only 3 m in some places.
Except the breach, other interesting fossil snake-stones and clams can be found in the surroundings which are from the Jurassic era and were found mainly in the nearby stone-pit. The breach of Jarabina was declared as a protected nature formation in 1967 and later as a protected nature reservation.
