Geocache Description:

A short walk along a level enclosed footpath.

The cache is hidden a short distance away from the village of Clayhidon in the Blackdown Hills. If you are looking for the cache on any day but Sunday, you could park in the church car park or by the wall next to the churchyard but don’t block access to the houses near the church. Alternatively you could park 200 metres to the south on the main road through the village at N50 55.897 W003 11.716 where the road is wider and there is space for a couple of cars. The footpath is signposted from just outside the church car park and runs initially through someone’s garden. There is another footpath off to the SW, which you do not want to take.

If you are standing in the right place and it isn’t misty, you should be able to see the Wellington Monument from the cache site. There is no need to climb any banks or stiles or to enter any fields. There is some barbed wire at ground level near the cache but you don’t need to cross it. The cache is a 1 litre clip lock plastic box. Please ensure that it cannot be seen from either side. Stealth will be required if people are tending to their horses in the adjacent field. The path may be a bit muddy in winter but should be accessible with an all-terrain buggy
