On bluff overlooking McKenzie River. You can approach via the river for a workout (70% slope) or drive a nearby forest 2650 road. Its flat on top in an open Doug-Fir timber stand.
The cache is located just outside the boundary of a recently cut timber sale. Don't worry the forest isn't destroyed. In fact, after a few years the area will look even better. It will be more open with sunshine streaming through the forest canopy with lots of bambies, thumpers, squirrels (Dutch the geopup's favorite forest friends) and grouse romping on the forest floor.
When I first placed this cache in 2001, you could spot the famous "heart" garden at Belknap Hot Springs. In just three short years trees have grown up and nearly blocked most of the gardens at the resort from view. It still is an awesome view however, and well worth the trip whichever route you choose to take.
