Just another dam (B)Rat cache. FTF gets a patch and the gas is on us!
The lake's mighty empty, but why the drought on new cache hides? Here's an example to get you thinking. . .get here while the fall colors are still nice!
A nice uphill hike from the obvious parking spot, just long enough and steep enough to get the ol' heart thumping in double time. The rewards are the vistas of Mt. Lassen, Mt. Shasta, the local foothills and Shasta Lake with a unique view of Shasta Dam. As you near the cache, you'll pass one of the gnarliest grandaddy oak trees on the planet Earth. (Someone tell me what kind this one is?) You will swear that you are in the mountains, even though you're just a few minutes from town. There IS plenty of poison oak in the area, but it is easily avoidable, and as always, this IS snake country. In summer, take some water--it's actually a long way over to the lake.
