This cache is located where the giant cottonwoods go to die. The walk is flat, with some on paved trail. On the way you’ll pass the Parachute Fish Pond and the Colorado River. The pond is owned by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and is stocked with rainbow trout. In the near side channel of the river is a new beaver dam and lodge (home). This dam and lodge were built during the low water period of Fall 2007.
To get to the pond, drive past the Parachute Fire Station on Cardinal Way. Turn left on Colorado Avenue, left on Rio Grande Avenue, right on Yampa Avenue and left on La Plata Circle. At the end of La Plata is the parking area for the pond. The cache used to be an ammo can and was originally filled with log, American flag, silly putty, sunglasses, dinosaur, pencil, crayons, Sparky magnet, compass, frog, four coins, shackle and a bolt. Ammo can has been taken by muggles. Cache container is now a small film canister. The cache in just west of the downed fence line and not on Private Property. Congratulations to k0guz for the FTF :0)
