Geocache Description:

A fun start to the new caching year!

Its time to work off those unwanted Christmas pounds by heading along to the annual Geocaching Ireland New Year's Resolution Event. This year's event will take place in the north Dublin village of Howth. The event offers the opportunity to meet some fellow geocachers for a fun afternoon's caching. All are welcome, especially new cachers.

Howth is a pleasant fishing village rich in amenieties. It is easily accessible, being the end terminus for the DART commuter train service. A number of buses go to Howth, including the 31, 31b, 31c. There is also ample free parking in the village.

This year's event will consist of a walk around the scenic Howth cliff path. The cliff path offers spectacular views over the Irish Sea, with the strong likelihood of spotting wild birds.

The plan is to meet at the above coordinates at 11am. From there we will head around the cliff, picking up the various caches along the route. The walk should take around 3 hours. At the far end we will be ferried back to Howth village for food and pints. There are two caches in the village itself and these can be hunted out after a restful pint!

As this outdoor trail is exposed to the elements, be sure to bring along waterproof clothing. While there should not be any dangerous terrain to be traversed, there will be some climbing up and down steep trails. Hence good sturdy walking shoes would be an advantage. Also, bring along plenty of liquids and snacks.
