The new Basket Bridge that spans Euclid south of Broadway was recently dedicated and opened for bikers, walkers, runners, skaters, etc. The dedication occurred just prior to the 25th El Tour de Tucson, and Greg LeMond, former biker extraordinaire, was on hand for the festivities.
The bridge is the final link of a 9 mile multi-use path that now extends from downtown to the east end of Davis-Monthan AFB. Really, this path is a valuable city improvement that encourages physical activity and alternate modes of transportation. The creative design was by Rosemary Lonewolf of Santa Clara Pueblo, NM, and was inspired by the artistry of the Tohono O’odham basket weavers. This new bridge also finally provides a destination for our Tucson’s “bridge to nowhere” - the absolutely fabulous Snake Bridge that spans Broadway (a couple of geocaches are present there, too).
Despite the concerns of bridge naysayers who thought that the bridge was a boondoggle that would benefit few people, three dozen people passed me in the 4 times I took GPS measurements. So, be in stealth mode. I took the average of 4 sets of readings because my GPSr did not receive good signal here – you’ll understand why if you visit. Many cachers will likely be able to find the cache without their GPS, especially since this is a small cache, and not a nano, pico, femto, atto, zepto, or yocto cache. Nonetheless, I have posted a hint that is pretty much a spoiler, and would decrease difficulty by 1, at least.
Please CAREFULLY remove the cache from its hiding spot.
