E-200.A1 - Welcome to Pisgah Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of E-200.A1 - Welcome to Pigsah to find out about the status of this cache on August 31, 2009. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

I will be more than happy to review this cache again and (hopefully) reinstate it once you have corrected any issues with the cache. please contact me via ma.reviewer@gmail.com to do so.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

The E-200 Series marks my two-hundreth published waypoint and is a collection of twelve caches organized in three geographical groups, plus a thirteenth bonus cache, all hidden in the Mount Pisgah region of Berlin and Northboro, a large conservation area with an estimated ten-plus miles of trails and plenty of interesting terrain.

To celebrate my waypoint milestone, I have created a series that offers a wide variety of cache types that should mix in well with the caches previously placed in these woods, while leading hikers on a comprehensive tour of the area.

The series is explained in more detail on the Great Pisgah Challenge cache page. It will be helpful to read that page first before continuing here. (visit link)

About E-200.A1 – Welcome to Pisgah

E-200.A1 is a traditional cache with a starter kit of sorts for the E-200 series. The kit includes a trail map, worksheets that will help you keep track of the E-200 clues, extra pens, and some blank paper.

If you are unfamiliar with the Pisgah area this is a good place to start. The maps (visit link) provided in this cache offer a concise guide to all Pisgah geocaches and include many trails not shown on the "official" trail map while providing coordinates and the approximate locations for all of Pisgah’s traditional and multi caches.

If possible, please print a copy of the map from home so the supply inside the cache will last longer.

The posted coordinates will take you to a tree within 10-20 feet left of the trail with a letter posted at eye level facing away from the trail. The cache is hidden less than thirty feet away.

E-200.A1 is pretty well packed with E-200 Series supplies and there is not much room for anything else, so trading is discouraged here unless you have some type of supply to add that may aid a future cacher.

If you are planning to complete the entire E-200 Series, make sure you take one of the worksheets (visit link) provided in this cache, or better yet, print a copy from home so that the cache supply will last longer. The worksheet will help you keep track of the information you will need to record along the way.

You should also bring along a pen and some paper as both will come in handy at times as you work your way through the E-200 collection. Supplies are available here and elsewhere among the E-200 caches, but they will last longer if most people remember to bring their own.

This cache also holds a clue for E-200.A4

About winter access and snow

Hiking in Pisgah is allowed during the winter, but I am requesting that these caches not be attempted when there is snow on the ground.
