The cache is located in Rancho San Antonio OSP on the Chamise
Trail.
Rancho is located in the foothills below Skyline Ridge in close
proximity to Interstate 280 and the cities of Los Altos, Los Altos
Hills, and Cupertino. From Highway 85, north or south, take the
Interstate 280 exit to San Francisco. From Interstate 280, north or
south, take the Foothill Boulevard exit and proceed south on
Foothill Boulevard approximately .2 miles to Cristo Rey Drive. Turn
right on Cristo Rey Drive and proceed .9 miles to the park
entrance. Public transit is available to Rancho San Antonio County
Park.
For the gamblers amoung us, the closest legal parking is at the
Mora Drive entrance to the Park. However, there is room for only
six vehicles here: N37 20.366 W122 06.049. Starting your hike from
here (instead of the main parking lot mentioned in the paragraph
above) will shorten the round trip distance by about two miles,
reducing the terrain rating to 2.5.
Rancho San Antonio OSP is open from dawn until one-half hour
after sunset. Please only cache during park hours. More information
on this park, as well as downloadable maps, can be found at:
http://www.openspace.org/preserves/pr_rancho_san_antonio.asp
Follow the trail to a spur (the spur joins the Chamise Trail at
both ends). Follow the spur. The cache is on the edge of a
clearing, no bushwacking whatsoever is required.
Congratulations to wildbun for being the FTF and collecting a
