The Broke Spoke Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

mbooda: This cache had a good, long run. I was hoping to keep it going until the Saints’ next visit to the Superb Owl, but other opportunities have opened up.

Bison, replaces the original Hurricane Katrina microcache.

Congratulations to OshnDoc for the FTF

and L&LCupids for the "Re-FTF"!

There is one place on the Mississippi Gulf Coast that was world-famous long before Hurricane Katrina: Kiln, Mississippi (only Yankees call it "Kiln", locals call it "the Kill"), hometown of Bret Favre, Green Bay quarterback who led the Pack to victory in Super Bowl XXXI on January 26, 1997 in the nearby New Orleans Superdome. During the game, cameras frequently shifted to one particular location in Kiln: the Broke Spoke, a rowdy biker bar in the heart of town, where the locals were cheering on their hometown hero.

The Broke Spoke is still there, after many Super Bowls and the devastation of a fire in 1999 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The words "GO PACK GO" are still inscribed on the front steps. If you're trying to find this cache during a Friday or Saturday evening, you'll see lots of muggles, but very few of them bite. Drop in and enjoy a draft and maybe watch a football game.
