Kingsgate Bay (No.2 of the Bays of Broadstairs) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

pjholland: Looks as if the tide and sand in this location has washed this cache away, and not for the first time. Regrettably, I am going to have to give up at this location. But don't worry, as soon as I find a more secure lspot nearby up will create a new cache. Many thanks to all of you who have found or tried to find this cache.

Geocache Description:

Located on the beach which is sometimes covered at high tide. Check tide tables before venturing out and beware of the chalk cliffs and tunnels.

Kingsgate Bay is the second of the seven bays of Broadstairs when starting from the north. More information about the bay, local history and geography can be found on the link below. (visit link)

The coordinates take you to the entrance of the respective tunnel. There are a few of them. The sand depth within the tunnel varies so it may be low down at knee level or at waist level. If the sand depth is low the tunnel may be partially flooded at low water.

The end of this tunnel is right beneath the car park of the Captain Digby pub, but no deirect access.

The cache is a small plastic box which originally contained:
Note pad and pen
Geocaching notice
Yellow plastic bag clip
Lavender sachet
Foreign coins
Lighter
Screen wipe sachet
A cork
