The cache is located at the battle field of Vaalkrans. Just a short distance from a total waste of money in the form of a bridge over the N3 near Ladysmith.

Buller was again defeated by the Boers at Vaalkrans in a third attempt to relieve Ladysmith suffering 333 casualties and retreating for a third time across the Tugela river. Instead of General Sir Redvers Buller, he was by now referred to by many of his men as Sir Reverse Buller.
Although the British had crossed the river and taken the position from the Boer forces, they determined that their forces were insufficient to breach the Boer lines and retreated.
To get to the cache can be a bit of a trip as you can approach it from the road between Ladysmith and Colenso, there is a large sign marking the way at S28 36.642 E29 43.447. Or from the N11 going from Ladysmith to the N3 take a left turn onto the district road at S28 35.406 E29 40.150. Follow this road to the T-Junction and turn right. Then for the really lazy cacher, stop under the bridge on the N3 and walk the 800 or so meters to the cache via the road over the top of the highway. Note that there is a cache on this bridge also. So you can grab two caches on this trip.
Cache is a small lunch tin that can hold small trade items. Please leave the cache hidden as you found it.
