The cache is situated near the site of East Grinstead High Level
Station which stood on the old branch line which ran to Three
Bridges.
East Grinstead High Level Station was opened on 15th October
1883 by the London Brighton & South Coast Railway and closed on
2nd January 1967.
The site of the high level station is now the car park for the
present East Grinstead Station. The present station was once called
East Grinstead Low Level but was renamed once the old high level
station closed.
Little now remains of the old high level station but if you walk
from the car park down the steps to the present station you may
just be able to make out some of the brickwork of the old
platforms.
The old track bed now forms part of the Worth Way which is very
popular with dog walkers and cyclists, the cache is placed on the
old loop which connected the station to the Oxted line. The loop
can be quite overgrown in the summer however it is quiet so you
should not be disturbed while searching for the cache.
The picture above was taken very near the cache coordinates
looking West, today all you can see is the car park of the present
day station.
At the coordinates you will find a sign, to find the cache
:-
Daily Charge = A.xx
Monthly Charge = BC.xx
Quarterly Charge = DEF.Gx
The cache can be found at:-
N 51.07.(A+D)(B-2)A W0.01.DE(F-5)
The daily charge for parking is quite steep (free on Sundays and
Bank Holidays) so if you are just stopping to do the cache you can
park on the local roads for free, except between 10am to 11am
Monday to Saturday.
The cache itself is a small clip top box which contains the
usual trades and certificates for 1st 2nd and 3rd to find. The
bonus cache for this series has now been archived so no need to
collect the bonus numbers.
