Geocache Description:

This EarthCache will bring you to Boulder Park located in Nora Springs Iowa.

If you have never been to Nora Springs Iowa or heard of what there is here, what you find at these coordinates will amaze you. Even if you have been here, the description of what this is will be equally amazing.
There are many legends about this boulder. Many passed down by Native Americans who once lived in this area as well as early settlers in this part of Northeast Iowa.

The fact is, this is a glacial erratic. A glacial erratic is a piece of rock that deviates from the size and type of rock native to the area in which it rests; the name "erratic" is based on the errant location of these boulders. These rocks were carried to their current locations by glacial ice, often over hundreds of miles. Erratics can range in size from pebbles to large boulders such as Big Rock (16,500 tons) in Alberta.
