FOOTHILL RANCH, California — Local law enforcement officials are searching a quiet Orange County neighborhood for a bandit that got away with several rare coins after a daring early morning burglary. The crime occurred at N 33 41.546 W 117 39.662 when the thief opened a free-standing safe by cracking an unusually secure combination. According to the safe manufacturer, this marks the first time this particular model has been compromised; in lab tests, professional safe-crackers were unable to open it.
"The thief used a rare technique only seen in the movies," commented the detective working the case. "The only [clue] we've found is a partially burnt piece of paper. We're not sure how this is linked to the incident just yet," he added.
