Geocache Description:

This cache is located in what used to be a busy area back a few years ago. It’s now a ghost town.

(BRAC) Base Realignment and Closure is a process where bases are closed or realigned. Radcliff just like most any other military towns is always in some form of flux. The town itself did not exist until 1956. Back in the seventies and eighties when the cold war was raging and Fort Knox was bustling this shopping area in town was the center of activity. Then in the late eighties when a brigade was cut from Fort Knox and a smaller Wal-Mart was built off Lincoln Trial Boulevard, activity shifted to the south of town. Now after the latest BRAC and the promises of a new influx of permanent party personnel on post a new building frenzy has started. A four-lane highway is now being built from the Post to the new Wal-Mart crossing the blighted area where these many buildings set vacant. Who knows if this area will rise again with a new brigade on the way, but time will tell. This area used to be home to a Murphy’s Mart, Captain D’s, Long John Silvers, Winn Dixie and a K-Mart.

You will have to take this nano out of its shell to sign then return as found
