Get your kicks and your caches on Route 66. We've enjoyed finding caches along other old stretches of the old highway. Our series is a joint effort to place caches on a stretch of Historic Route 66 in Southwest Missouri between Halltown and Carthage. This cache is not quite a Park and Grab. The Talbot Conservation Area covers a few thousand acres, so there are plenty of opportunities to hide and find caches.
This cache is a large metal canister that is well camouflaged and you will have to walk in to get it. This cache is so called because the canister contains a lot of Berenstain Bear characters for trade. When the cache was hidden in December, there was no concern about ticks, chiggers and poison ivy. But assuming that it survives to summer, any/all of those may be a concern. Please note, the cache is hidden on the conservation area, NOT in a parking lot. You will find an obvious parking lot just south of the intersection of Missouri Routes 96 and 97 where you can leave your cachemoble only about 200 feet from the cache, but you will have to hike in and you can expect only some minor bushwhacking. Since this is a conservation area, please use due caution during hunting seasons. In fact, if it is opening day, just don't even try and at other times, use common sense. You can probably find this one day or night.
The First to Find will find a gold Sacajawea - yes, its real money.
