A cache for the BIG birds. The cache was originally located on the
farm's property, but they've since had a change of heart, so it's
merely nearby. (Thanks to Camo Cacher who reinvigorated this cache
with the most recent placement!)
This oddball stop along a busy stretch of local highway
offers up close and personal visits with emu, and telescopic visits
of ostriches (the owners once told me the ostriches are WAY too
territorial to share their space with tourists...something about
collecting eggs with a pickup truck for quick getaway).
Stop in for a free view, take photos, and ESPECIALLY take time
to LISTEN to the emus, if you can find them beyond the new solid
fences! They make the ODDEST sounds...(I suspect some of these
sounds were used in creating effects for "Jurrasic Park"). For a
quarter you used to be able to get a bit of feed and let kids feed
a true Big Bird, but visitation is by fee, now, and so is feeding.
(If you find it, you MAY want to hold your own hand over your
children's, lest the birds get too fiesty in their pecking!)
When you're finished with the emu, you MAY want to log your
visit in our container which memorialized the original "ant
infested" cache.
