Geocache Description:

You are viewing this from one of a series of parks placed along the Fraser River by the City of Prince George. This park is frequently flooded in the spring of the year.

Rivers, Streams and Creeks are everywhere in the Central Interior. These streams have a variety of features about them. In Prince George there is one predominating feature that everyone recognizes. It is the cut banks.
A cut bank is an erosional feature of streams. They are located in abundance along mature or meandering streams. They are located on the outside edge of a meander or bend in the river or stream. They are usually located where the river or stream is the deepest or fastest. If you were to look at the Fraser River on Google Earth, one would see them in a variety of places along its path to the Pacific Ocean.
Due to their cliff like structure these features are steep and unstable and are prone to mass wasting events usually caused by high water or heavy rains. A mass-wasting event is more commonly referred to as a landslide or washout.
The waste and the material from erosion are deposited on point bars or carried all the way to the rivers mouth where it is deposited in the river delta.
To claim this earthcache you must:
1. Take a picture of yourself or GPSr at the coordinates listed,
2. Answer this - Across the river is a railroad and a private road that run along the bottom of the cut bank. What are some of the hazards you think they may have to deal with from the Cutbank?
You do NOT have to wait for confirmation from me before logging your find. Logs not meeting all requirements will be deleted. Please do not make any reference to these answers in your log. Thanks.
