Geocache Description:

From movie theater to public library

This location is a wonderful example of recycling at its best. Starting in 1965, this building served as the Americana Theater. In 1999, the building was rededicated as the Yarborough Library, a branch of the City of Austin library system. The Yarborough Library has evolved through a variety of names and locations over the years

The history of the building itself adds another fun dimension to the location (visit link) and (visit link) If you come during the hours the library is open, check out the cool interior design. The redesigned building has beautiful painted murals and a large open space. At times, the walls include pictures and posters from various grand openings and events held at the theater over the years.
