Geocache Description:

The 5th of this series of caches along the St Helens Canal. The oldest Industrial canal in the world. Towpaths and trails can be muddy so I'd advise wellies.

This series of caches are placed to bring you to the first "motorway" of its time. A Canal!

This is number 5 in the mini series that started life as multi/puzzles

The published coordinates are adjacent to Stanley Basin, a loading wharf in days gone by for coal from the Pewfall Colliery. Nearby is the remnants of a 1773 water powered mill that made copper nails and was known as Stanley Bank Slitting Mill.

If you are in a car the best place to park for this part of the series is behind the Ship Inn on Blackbrook Road (see the waypoint for parking). There is also a Rangers Centre there too that's well worth a visit if you go when it's open.

Now for the cache! Please check the logs for the final coords as the clues for the multi aspect has been removed.

This area is known for flooding so please be careful

Sights to see whilst on this stretch; Both Basins and the remnants of the Mill (waypoint below). There's also another of our caches near here called "Owls Nest", see if you can get that if you've got time, cache number GCZB6R

This container is a small sized click lock tub that can hold swaps, TB's and Coins
