The cache is a medium sized "Lock&Lock" container hidden in Cardrona Forest. There is a first class car park provided at Kirkburn by the Forestry Commission. There are excellent toilets here, which are heated in Winter, and a supply of forest maps showing the great variety of marked trails in the forest. Top marks to FC.
I recommend the Pink Route ("Wallace's Hill") and if you want a long walk do not turn off on the side trail at the top of the hill but carry on past marker posts 15, 16,17, 18 etc. This will take you through a cleared area to the edge of the forest overlooking the tweed valley. Turn left at marker 20 and up over the little hill where the going is a bit muddy. This leads you to marker 21 where there is a seat and views over Innerleithen and Traquair. From here you have the option of following the hard forest road or taking the footpath that angles up the shoulder of Wallace's Hill and comes back on to the forest road close to the cache site.
Standing on this road at 55 37.135 3 05.962 and looking uphill through a break in the trees the reason for the cache name will be obvious. Take care walking to the site as the ground is very rough. Standing at the cache look up at 11 o,clock and you will see the cairn shown on the forest map. I cannot find a reason for the cairn being here but it must have been in existence before the forest was planted over 60 years ago.
There are obviusly many ways of reaching the cache site but whichever way you arrive be sure to go back by the red route wich will take you by a well preserved hill fort.
