De volledige oppervlakte van het gebied
bedraagt 3750 ha. Vooral de ecologische en cultuurhistorische
waarden maken het gebied uniek en de moeite waard om te
behouden.
Het Grenspark wordt doorkruist door de Belgisch – Nederlandse
grens. Buiten de heide- en bosgebieden die beheerd worden door de
Vlaamse en Nederlandse overheden, vinden we ook enkele (grote)
privé-eigenaren, kleine landbouwpercelen, en verscheidene
bospercelen van kleine eigenaren.
Deze diversiteit maakt dat het park zeker een bezoekje waard
is.
Voor een correcte log vragen wij 3 opdrachten uit te voeren
1) Neem een foto van een teamlid met GPS duidelijk in beeld op de
plaats van de coördinaten (51.25.060 004.25.136)
2) Wat eten de dieren om het natuurgebied in stand te houden
3) Hoe groot is het natuurgebied dat is bewaard gebleven

Border park De
Zoom- Kalmthoutse heide is a cross-borde rnature reserve with many
pools,heathland,inland dunes and vast forests.
The whole area measures 3750 ha(9375 acres)and is home to some real
ecological treasures.Moreover the entire park constitutes a
landscape with great cultural-historical value.The area is cut
through by the Belgian-Dutch border and is owned by a varied of
bodies and parties: along the natural and forest areas that belong
to the Dutch and Flemish authorities one can find large private
estates, small scale agricultural areas and small forest properties
scattered all over the region.
This diversity makes the park well worth a visit.
The measures 3750 ha (9375 acres) and is home to some real

Het gebied ligt schrijlings op de waterkering
tussen de bekkens van Schelde
en Maas. De grootste hoogte is 27 m boven zeeniveau, de laagste
18 m. Het terrein helt zowel naar het zuidwesten als naar het
noordoosten af. Naar het noorden lopen afhellende, ondiepe
kleiafzettingen
van de
Formatie van de Kempen (Quartair), die invloed hebben op zowel het oppervlakte- als op
het grondwater.
Daardoor watert ongeveer driekwart van het terrein af naar de
noordelijk gelegen
Kleine AA, een beek
die deel uitmaakt van het
MaasbekkenTientallen vennen, verspreid over het terrein, wijzen op
ondoordringbare lagen in de bodem. Die bestaat voor het grootste deel uit
dekzanden, zandgrond met een ijzerrijke B-horizont, ondoordringbaar voor water. Het is meestal kalkarm,
onvruchtbaar zand, typisch voor de Antwerpse
Noorderkempen.

The area lies straddling between the bekkens
ofschelde and Meuse. Largest altitude is 27 m. above sea level,
lowest18 m. the area tends both to the south west and to the North
east finished. To the north run sloping, shallow clay amputations
of the formatie of the kempen (Quartair), which have influence on
both surface - and on the groundwater. As a result,of this water
drains approximately a quarter from the area to the small AA
a beek which determines part of the Meuse
basin.
Dozens of vennen, spread concerning the area,
indicate on impenetrable layers in the floor. Those exist for the
largest part from sand ground with b horizon, impenetrable
for water. It is generally lime arm, sterile sand, typically for
the Antwerp Noorderkempen.
