The posted coordinates are not the location of the cache. These are the coordinates to the gate if you are curious. You will need to solve the mystery to find the missing digits to the coordinates below. Bring your own #2 pencil.

I cannot verify if this story is true or not. All I know is that after I had read the story in an old book I found in a geocache I was under it's SPELL!



In it I read the tale of a gate in Freeland that was supposed to be haunted. Checking the internet, I saw that the stories vary but essentially they claim that there was once a school beyond that gate and a mad man killed some of the children at the school. It seems to me that the building tell into the river due to eroseon and now only the gate remains. Ghosts are supposedly seen there. One story said that the gate is a cemetery and is accessible by a dirt road. A number of sites claim the community decided to tear down the house after the tragic act, but The Gate still remains as a memory. And it’s told that you can hear children crying, and see heads on the gate emery now and then. But just being there looking at The Gate is anough.

It all sounded so mystyrious that I had to find it. It took some digging. One websyte reported that it was off of River Road. That was easy to find so one day I took a drive down River Road looking. I didn’t see anything. I checked Goofle maps and looked at satellite pfotos of the area. I was checking for dirt roads and found one that appeared to be on private property but there was no gate. Finally, I came across one site that said where it was on River Road! This time, when I relurned I found it. I took the picture that is at the top of this entry. Looks pretty creepy huh? Turns out that it is near a cemetery. Vasold Cemetery which was founded in 1877.

It is not down a dirt road, it is right next to the street. And the Tittabawassie River runs right next to it.

I do wonder where this story of the gate originated, as I can’t find one bit of evidence to validate the story of the schoolhouse that was there.
