This cache is located just off a seldom-used road that may be
difficult to travel in winter. The lock n lock is big enough for
tradeables. No bushwacking required.
I had driven past this location several times and my brother told
me about it as I was looking for spots to hide a cache.
Just at the top of the hill from the cache location is a cement
sluiceway. This was to divert the Skootamatta River to generate
electricity for the Ore Chimney mine located down the Harlowe Road.
The Ore Chimney operated from 1909 to 1932 and reportedly has
deposits of both silver and gold.
Take care near the sluiceway as a nasty fall could result if you
get too close. Approaching the sluiceway through the bush would be
safer.
Just down the hill from the cache are some beautiful rapids.
A toonie for the FTF!
