EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SATURDAY FEBRUARY 2,
2008!!
I have got several requests to postpone this event, in favor of
Signals once in a lifetime,
Meet the Lackey's and Garmin Event. Just to make it easier on
us cachers, seems how Lord Hill will still be there after the
Lackey's have gone.
The Pokey Plodders are having a tailgate event before we attack
Lord Hill Park. Bring your own coffee, breakfast, travel bugs and
caching stories.
Pokey Plodder Event
Who: Anybody who wants to come and drink coffee (or
whatever your choice of morning drink is) and share caching stories
and travel bugs with us. Attacking Lord Hill later is not
required to attend this event. But your presence at the above
coordinates, at the stated time is.
When:Saturday February 2, 2008 7-7:30 AM
Make sure to sign the event logbook, and if you want bring some
sort of trade item to donate for the event cache that will be
placed at the end of the day.
Post Pokey Plodder Event Fun
After drinking coffee you get the inkling to try some caches in
the Lord Hill Park, there are a group of us who are going to plod
our way around the park. We will be doing the two car shuttle, with
the majority of us parking at the event, and one or two people
parking at the entrance closest to the river. Check back for
route/bookmark updates. Also there is a forum thread discussing the
Lord Hill attack. forum

FAQ
Q: I am a slow hiker, will I be able to keep up?
A: Of course! We all are, thats why we leave early, our mantra "I
may be slow, but I am going to get there"
Q: I have kids, Can I bring them along?
A: You bet! We will need them to carry us back! Seriously our group
will probably travel the pace of a distracted 4 year old so they
will fit right in.
Q: I am a fast hiker, can I still go with you for post-event
fun?
A: Yup! But make sure you bring a fast hiker friend to go with you
as the rest of us will be far behind.
Q:I don't want to go to the event, can I still come and plod
with you?
A: You sure can, we will be leaving as soon as the event wraps up.
But you will not be able to log the event.
Route Update 1/30/08
Big Big Big thanks to JCAR and Johnny Boy for making this route
through Lord Hill for me. They have officially done more for this
event than I have! (I owe you big time!!!) We will be taking the
route they created, the bookmark will be updated to reflect the
changes.
The point to point version, from NW parking to South parking
would be: Galleons Tibby's Remnant of Majesty Beaver Lake Take the
North end of the Tpl to Tibby's Mossy Maple Continue on the Tpl to
New Original Lord Hill Then continue on the TPL to Lord Hill Rocks
Head South on the Pipeline to the cutoff trail and then up to
Another Lord Hill Then back to the Pipeline to the Temple Pond View
point trail and the Cache called Temple Pond. Then back to the
Pipeline south again to Buck Rub. From Buck Rub you can take the
Quarry trail around and down past the Quarry Trail cache to Lord
Hill Back Side or you can drop down the steepish goat trail along
the utility right of way directly to Lord Hill Back Side (Then
quarry trail cache would be a short side trip option) Finally from
the Back Side cache you could work your way around the quarry to
the area with a boat load of dumped logs. If you drop down the hill
north of the logs you'd pick up a trail that heads down and SW
toward the river to Pooh's. Then continue toward the river. At some
point you'll hit a dirt road and from there Wil E. Coyote, Eagle
Perch and Cookie Dough and then it is a short walk to the south
parking.
Also I have heard that a couple of people are only able to make
the north end of the park before turning around. JB and JCAR have a
route for you!! (those guys rock!!!!)
Northern Loop Route would be. Galleons Tibby's Remnant of Majesty
Beaver Lake Take the North end of the Tpl to Tibby's Mossy Maple
Continue on the Tpl to New Original Lord Hill Then continue on the
TPL to Lord Hill Rocks Take the short trail from the pipeline to
the main trail The Puzzle cache Gridlock is near the junction of
the Main trail and the West View. People could then follow the Main
trail back to the car or head up the West View trail to Rickie's
and West View caches.
WoW did I say those guys are awesome!! Thanks for the hard
work and long telephone conversation you guys had to help us all
have fun!!
