Sweet Surrender Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ChemInstr: I read Lea's log and knew that I needed to journey out and inspect the situation. It's amazing what some water and a few beavers can do to change the topography of an area! My dog and I hiked out, intending to locate the cache and move it to a more secure area; however, the spot where the cache was placed is now 2 feet deep in water. Those beavers have really changed the area tremendously. I hate to lose this cache but there's not much choice. My apologies, Lea, for your fruitless search.

Geocache Description:

When I walk on this lovely property, I have a terrific time and often start humming John Denver tunes. Corny, right? Well, nonetheless, I do as I am a huge JD fan. This cache is placed with the name Sweet Surrender, one of his songs for which he wrote the words and the lyrics. A portion of the lyrics include:

Sweet Surrender by John Denver

Lost and alone on some forgotten highway
Traveled by many, remembered by few
Lookin’ for something that I can believe in
Lookin’ for something that I'd like to do with my life

There’s nothin’ behind me and nothin’ that ties me
To somethin’ that might have been true yesterday
Tomorrow is open and right now it seems to be more
Than enough to just be here today

And I don’t know what the future is holdin’ in store
I don’t know where I’m goin’, I’m not sure where I’ve been
There’s a spirit that guides me, a light that shines for me
My life is worth the livin’, I don’t need to see the end

Sweet, sweet surrender
Live, live without care
Like a fish in the water
Like a bird in the air

This cache joins several others on the property including Navistar and Bookie’s DF Creekside Trail (GCPEZ1), DF Back Meadow Trail (GCPEYW), and Durham-Frey Allatoona Path (GCPEYR) as well as Georgiacowboy’s Cumorah (CG13745), and Jambhu’s El Condor Pasa (GCZ47F). I've also placed Looking for Space and Farewell Andromeda.

Parking at Frey Elementary is not accessible from 7:30AM-3:00PM on school days. Weekends and non-school days are ideal. Also know that one of the primary purposes of this isolated property is hunting. During September, October, and January, bow hunting is permitted from sunrise to 10 AM. During November and December, bow hunting is permitted from sunrise to sunset and therefore, I’d say the caches are off-limits.

I hope that you will enjoy your sojourn in the woods as well as enjoy finding this little cache (aka lock-n-lock). Spring, summer, and fall are particularly beautiful back in here. Bring your four-legged furry friend on a leash, too.

A hearty congratulations to team DynamicDuet, their first FTF!!!
