Geocache Description:

Look on the eastern side of the road to see a row of Cattle Exercisers. These are on the opposite side of the road from the cache and can be viewed from the cache without crossing the road. There are no Naugas or Jackalope in this area. There is a place to park and you can turn around inside the fence. Use caution when pulling off and driving onto the road. USE YOUR SIGNALS WELL IN ADVANCE!

Cattle exercisers where created years ago by ranchers when people started demanding leaner beef. The exercisers are a row of tall wooden slat fences, usually placed along a roadway or railway. The fences are 200 yards or more in length and usually about 100 yards apart. The cattle are lead by a 'Trained Cow', usually called the 'Trained Cow', up and down through the rows of fences to reach their feed. The rancher places the feed at the end of the fence furthest from the cattle. This makes the cows walk much further to reach their food than if they had to walk a straight line. The cattle which are to be kept more fatty are simply lead by the 'Trained Cow' around the fences rather than up and down through the fences. During the Winter months snow builds up between the fences causing it to be much harder for the cows to walk. That is why Winter beef is leaner than Summer beef. In some cases you may see a solid row of fences along a roadway. In this situation the feed is placed at the end of the fence nearest the cattle. The cattle are then lead by the 'Trained Cow' along the longest route to the end of the fence furthest from the feed and back along the opposite side of the fence to the feed. The fatty cows are lead by the 'Trained Cow' via the shortest route to the feed. You might see some antelope here and watch for snakes during the summer month. Congrats to Dusky16 & Nikki for the FTF.
