An ammo box located near the Dry Creek Trail, which runs from East Chapel Hill High to Erwin Road. This is near the end of it, on the "Nature Trail" loop.
There are a couple places to park for this. You can park at Cedar Falls Park, where there are a couple of other caches. On weekends, it's okay to park at ECHHS, in the back near the football stadium or next to the lacrosse/softball fields. DO NOT park on Erwin Road or I-40, as I don't think it is allowed in either place. You might be able to park on the road very close to the cache at Perry Creek Drive, but I would suggest the two options I mentioned before.
If you are coming from Cedar Falls, take a right (on foot) onto the asphalt path going parallel to Weaver Dairy Road. At the light, cross the street and go into the main ECHHS entrance, bearing right at the sign where it tells about their sports, etc. Walk past the tennis courts and the practice football field. When you get to the stadium, there's a dirt path on the right side. Follow this until there's an obvious path down to the right (if coming from the softball fields, follow the asphalt path around East to the same dirt path and turn left).
Go down this path for a little bit, and turn at the Dry Creek Trail sign. The trail is all natural surface. I would say that it is unbikeable...there are stairs, rocks and roots.
The path is pretty obvious from here. You cross over a couple of roads and bridges, going through a nice rocky area and ending up a bit past Perry Creek Drive. Then it's over a bridge and on to the Nature Trail loop. You may want to mark the bridge on your GPS, because there are some spur trails that could be mistaken for the official loop. The walk from East Chapel Hill High to the cache is about 1.2 miles.
The actual cache is an ammo box located not too far off the trail. The coords could be pretty bad, because I was having trouble getting a solid fix. If you're having trouble, you can try some alternate coords: 584/925. It shouldn't be horrible hard to find though, and the clue should lead you right to it. If you have better coords, feel free to post them.
This is my first hide, with the help of my sister, Slaro. Hope you enjoy it!
Congratulations to mnloon for the FTF!
