Geocache Description:

A quick Park and Grab along Foxen Cyn. Rd.

Zaca Lake began as a spiritual sanctuary by the Native American Chumash. According to Chumash oral tradition, Zaca Lake was formed when Thunder sat down there and made a great hole in the earth 13,000 years ago. Movies filmed there were: in 1913, a studio filmed "The Zaca Lake Mystery" starring Pauline Bush and Jack Richardson and in 1919,
"Rivers End." More recently "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and Friday the Thirteenth, part three, were also filmed there.
Jaques Cousteau's son and Charles Lindberg have both explored this lake. At one time, Zaca Lake was the valley's center for top quality moonshine. And many famous people have stayed there throughout the years.

Today, Zaca Charitable Foundation is a non-profit children's group retreat. Many special events are held there from weddings to film shoots.
