Geocache Description:

Please join us in welcoming koneko home from her four-month travel and geocaching adventure, and help us celebrate her 5000th find milestone achieved during her trip!

Since joining the caching community on August 28, 2002, koneko has found more than 5300 caches (she’ll likely be closer to 6000 by the time she gets here for the event!). This puts her current rank at #136 on the geocaching leader board. When she's not finding caches, she finds the time to hide them (she has 68 hides) and to host events (7 to date, including a CITO). She has also developed successful relationships with land managers, advocates tirelessly for our hobby/sport/activity/obsession, and has been instrumental in starting not one, but two caching organizations, Geocky (Geocachers of Kentucky) and the CCGA (Cape Cod Geocaching Association). Her most important accomplishment, however, is well-described by her pal Show Me the Cache, who says, “if there were a statistic for ‘fun per find,’ we would expect to see koneko’s name at the top of the list.”

Whether you’ve met koneko before or not, if you have cached on the Cape it is likely you have hunted for one of her hides, or you’re at least likely to have seen her name in logbooks just about anywhere you go in the state!

Join us at the British Beer Company at 46 Route 6A in Sandwich on Saturday, February 2 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm for an afternoon of celebrating her return home and her tremendous milestone accomplishment. We promise games and prizes, in addition to the usual fun of talking caching and the opportunity to swap and discover travel bugs and geocoins. Please post your “will attend” log by January 31 if at all possible so we can give the restaurant an idea of how many of us to expect.

If anyone has any interesting stories or photos from caching with koneko, please contact capecodgirl so we can arrange to share them!
