Geocache Description:

Small container hidden in Warriors Path State Park

"Duck Island" can be a busy place with its loop walking trail, basketball courts, exercise trail, sand volleyball, playground, tennis courts, and several picnic tables and pavilion. The name, which does not appear on the topo map, refers to the ducks (and mostly geese) who frequent the island. At one time, feeding the waterfowl was allowed, but had to be stopped due to the mess and large numbers that were permanently staying. I have pictures and videos of my older kids feeding the bread heels to the geese here long time ago.

This cache is hidden in hopefully one of the lesser visited spots so that you can search in peace. It was replaced in April 2012 to be a clear 2.5 cup lock-n-lock box. Please hide it back well so that it does not disappear. Also help pick up trash so that the park is a better place. I recycled 16 or so pop cans when scouting out the location.

For families with young children, there is a boundless playground on the mainland that is worth some time exploring. (One parent stays with kids, the other gets the cache - right?)

9/2015 - TN event permit approved by park Naturalist Marty Silver for another year.
