Moderate 1.3 mile hike from parking at top of Stephens Ranch Rd. Take the trail or the service road, both will lead you to the cache.
This spot is a popular hiking and biking area between La Verne and Claremont. The cache site can be accessed from Claremont Wilderness area on the east or Marshall Canyon on the west. The hike was measured at just over 1.3 mi from the equestrian parking lot above Marshall Canyon Golf Course. This lot is gated and can be locked so be sure to read the signs regarding access. There is water and a picnic area at the trail head but the trail is mostly void of shade, so if you're hiking in the summer bring plenty of water, especially if hiking with dogs.
You are looking for a 4"x6" green lock & lock (formerly a cylindrical tin) with plenty of room for small trading items and travel bugs.
The cache site is a perfect place to rest for lunch and take in the view of the valley. You'll love it!
If you are the "rugged outdoors type" and you're looking for a shortcut from the west side...you can start your ascent from N34 09.252 W117 44.152.
When placed the cache contained...
$1 boot for the FTF, keychains, Matchbox car, Better Chemistry bumper sticker, Disney stickers, Uncle Jon 91 stickers ;) assorted pins and swag.
CONGRATULATIONS "not tom" for the FTF!!
***UPDATE***
Moved the cache due to wind conditions. Coords are still good, but you may want to bring gloves.
