Summerville NS215 Traditional WiPE 08 **Feb8** Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

geoadventurers: It appears that someone had an interest in obtaining an ammocan for their own use. Looks like it was muggled! Many thanks to jajakeiz for removing what little was left behind after the container was stolen. Now that we are fairly confident that there is no geotrash left behind, it looks like the appropriate time to officially archive this.

Geocache Description:

Summerville NS215 Traditional

A WiPE 08 Winter Cache Placement!

Just off of the Glooscap Trail  Take Block Wharf Road to the end for parking. Welcome to Summerville and the Bay of Fundy, the World's Highest Tides.  Summerville was first settled in 1784 by Captain John Grant.  For Summerville History visit  history

As you take the trail at the parking coordinates and walk along the beach,  You'll see debris of old sailing vessels such as the Hamburg that were converted to gypsum barges and later abandoned on the beach near the Hobart Wharf.  It's hard to believe that these grand sailing vessels sailed all over the world.

The cache is placed just off of a public use trail which is accessible from a public picnic/viewing site.  If you take the trail the whole way you'll come to a secluded beach.  You might want to check up on the tide times if you do this.  Tides however won't bother this cache or finding it. It's placed in an area that will give you a great view of the Avon River and is available year round (Winter Friendly).  Do you see the Fundy Gypsum plant across the river in Hantsport?  This is a great place to fish for Striped Bass.

It's about a 5 minute hike from the parking area to the cache site. Trail is kept but may be muddy. Make sure to bring your hiking boots.  Although there is no hunting in the area it's always a good idea to wear your hunter orange when you're walking in the woods.  Cache container is an ammo can - NOT RECOMMENDED FOR NIGHT CACHING as Cache is on the top of a cliff..

FTF Prize Inside. 4 out of 5 of my WiPE Caches contain Unactivated Trackables (coins, Travel Bugs, tags). Please share the wealth!

NOTE FROM CURRENT CACHE OWNER: Hello everyone. Looks like we have an ammo can thief that got this one some time over the last few months! Unfortunately, I am no longer able to do much along the lines of driving and hiking. As a result, some of my caches have already been adopted. The remaining geoadventurers geocaches, including this one, are all up for adoption. This cache in particular is too much of a hike for me to do maintenance on these days. Alternatively, if no one is interested in adopting this one in the near future, could the next person that finds it please hike out the remaining geocache contents so that no geo trash is left behind? The cache contents can be reused or disposed of as the finder deems appropriate. There is no need to return anything to me. Once this has been done, I will archive the cache. Thank you! ... the geoadventurers
