Geocache Description:

Quarry Pond Traditional NS215 WiPE 08

A WiPE 08 Winter Cache Placement!

From some local research, I've read that the water is around 90 feet deep in the center and that some machinery used in the quarry operation is still at the bottom. It couldn't be removed when the quarry flooded approximately 50 years ago.  This is a popular swimming hole and picnic area.  It has a number of picnic tables and is plowed in the winter time.  There is an outhouse here and the site is maintained by the Municipality of the District of West Hants.  Kempt Shore has an annual bluegrass festival in the summer at Peterson's Festival Campground.

Although I haven't seen any, the sign says "WATCH OUT FOR SINK HOLES". Please note that the park is closed after dark.

Cache container is a large camoed Lock and Lock and is placed out of the way not far from the main parking area.

NS215 is for Nova Scotia Highway 215  Just off of the  Glooscap Trail

Regular SWAG inside and a FTF prize!!! 4 out of 5 of my WiPE Caches contain unactivated trackables (coins, geotags, tb's). Please share the wealth!

HAPPY HUNTING!!
