~News~

Canoeists and kayakers wishing to launch on the scenic island-studded Wright’s Lake, which drains into St. Margaret's Bay via Northeast River, will appreciate a new small-craft launch site on the lake from a new section of Westwood Boulevard in the Westwood Hills subdivision north of Upper Tantallon.

The site requires a 50 m portage down a gravelled path from the road to the lakeshore, about 500 m east of Mud Cove. Since there is no boat ramp, the site is not suitable for launching power boats. Another new hidden access site is located about 1000 m to the east, on the other side of Mud Cove, off Falcourt Run.

The shoreline of Wrights Lake is still surprisingly undeveloped, as it is located within the Bowater Mersey area. Points of interest include the numerous islands, beaches, and cranberry patches; not to mention the 1920s-era dam at its outlet and historical Old Annapolis Road, the remains of an old sawmill, and a spectacular waterfall near the mouth of Pockwock River.
