There are 256 steps, but thank goodness they are not all in one long staircase. Most of the stair sections have pretty sturdy handrails for your safety as some sections are pretty steep, and could be very slippery at times.
Its official name is Taguan, but a lot of locals know it as 1000 Steps or "that place on the backroad (to Andersen) with the stairs." The trail has been provided by the Mangilao Golf Course as public shoreline access, required by Public Law 19-5."
Trail sections can be very slippery so pay close attention to where you step and be aware of places where you can hang on for support as you go down and up the trail. Taguan’s treasure is a close and personal view of the beautiful rugged coastline of northeastern Guam, so... bring your camera and make sure it is fully charged and/or bring spare batteries.
Drink plenty of water before, during, and after... because this is no place to get any kind of cramps.
