We Have A FEVER For A Picnic At The Park Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

John Wayne Pooch: It looks like everyone has logged their attendances except Team 360 who doesn’t make logs online any way so I am archiving this one. What a great turnout of people, 43 team signatures in all. I am so happy to be a part of geocaching and the geocaching community. A BIG THANKS go out to everyone who brought stuff to help out with the event. We appreciate everyone taking the day to come out and spend some time with us. We are looking forward to the next event.

Please make sure you log all the TBs and geocoins that you picked up. If you need help on how to do that, please email me and I will help you out.

Geocache Description:

When logging, please tell us how many people will be in your group. We have been looking for an excuse to have another event since our first one. So we decided to have an event on a SATURDAY at the Red Mountain Park in Mesa. We reserved a ramada so to guarantee a place to enjoy the day. With all this park has to offer, you will want to bring the kids out because there is plenty of room for them to run around and many things for the teenagers to do too (and of course the adults.)

The park is located at 7745 E. Brown Rd in Mesa and has:
Playgrounds
Lighted Basketball Court
Lake
Urban Fishing
Walking Trail
Restrooms
Lighted Cement Volleyball Court
And of course there are a lot of caches in the area

We have many reason for this event from my son’s and Ms butterscotch#2’s birthday, a pre Super Bowl party, a day for cachers to get together to exchange stories or meet up with old friends and introduce caching to new friends. You name it, it sounds like a good reason to me to have one. In fact, this park allows beer and wine with a permit (which we will cover) so bring out a cooler with ya. (BYOB&W) We will be cooking out. We will be supplying the food but it will be on a first come first served bases.

The event will be from 1:00pm until 4:00pm and the cooking will begin about 1:15pm so you’ll have plenty of time to attend and make it to other Super Bowl parties. Depending on how many people show up will depend on how much food is left over if there is any so make sure you get there before the food disappears. If anyone would like to bring out a dish or dessert or anyone would like to donate a prize or items for a prize, please email me so I can add your name and the item/s you will be bringing. So if you have a prize winning dish, here is your chance to show off how good a cook you are.

We will be having a few games. There will be a poker run so if you want to play you will have to bring an ante to put in the pot and please make it a $3 plus item. I only say this to make it fair to everyone. You will be allowed one hand to play per ante but limited to 3 per caching team. There will be 1 winner. There will be a timed hunt and 2 winners for that and there will also be a raffle for some prizes.

Thanks to Just hike, butterscotch#2, TeamYankeeArkitek, Desert Otter and simpjkee for providing food, items and prizes for the event. They are providing
Hamburgers
Hot dogs
Chips
Soda
Water
Cake
Thanks to other contributors:
Team Sqiddle) world famous bacon wrapped water chestnuts
CLEinPHX) food
Snobird & Mountain Goat) some kind of finger snacks

Please add this to your watch list in case of any updates. Also there will be a designated spot for travel bugs and geocoins to trade and discover. This area has a lot of caches and I know you’ll plan to get some along the way or after the event.
