Re-gift-O-Rama Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

geosliders: Looks like the cache is too close to the ongoing construction and the future buildings that will be pretty close on the neighboring property, so it's good bye to this one. We're sorry to see this one go since it reminds us of our ReGift-O-Rama Event (2008) that was so much fun.

Geocache Description:

Easy cache on a little known trail system.

This cache was placed for the Re-Gift-O-Rama Event and is now one of five caches in Collins Park. The park offers a pavilion, baseball field, grills, many trails and a playground for the kids.

Twenty five years ago the trails in this area were more significant and were the primary routes for Shenendehowa students to get to the library, the mall and home after school. At that time, many trails criss-crossed the woods in this park and continued across Rt. 146 to additional trails that included many large sand dunes. The trails were used as a shortcut as well as a fun place to ride bikes. Today, most of the trail system is gone - having been graded and replaced by commercial development.

The remaining trails are located within and adjacent to Collins Park and offer access to the newly constructed Shaketon Elementary School, the newly constructed Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library and the Village Plaza shopping center.

Once you enter the park - head off to the small ‘hills’ off to the right behind the playground area – don't worry, these are the largest ‘hills’ in the park, the rest of the trails are flat. The cache is a relatively easy find - an easy hike for a family. Although it can be done in the winter, as always snow can make it a harder find.

The cache is a medium sized lock & lock container and has lots of fun things for kids and adults alike.

The park and the trails are beautiful - enjoy a day at the park! While here you can visit one of the four other caches in the park, or even the Hotwheels Trading Station cache (GC11TFR) which is at the Library.
