Geocache Description:

är-bu-'re-tum duo

n., pl. -tums or -ta (-t?). A place where an extensive variety of woody plants are cultivated for scientific, educational, and ornamental purposes. [Latin arboretum, a place grown with trees, from arbor, tree.]

Landis Arobretum

I really wanted to use the 'schwa' in the title, but the wisdom of the admin suggests against it, so the 'schwa's' have been replaced with 'u's'...

It has been a couple of years since I first came across the Landis Arboretum. When placing caches in ‘new’ areas I am one to jump on the occasion and get the listing published ASAP. This place was just the same except that I leaked it only to those willing to do some legwork of a Mystery cache. The secret society of willing to tackle said caches has already marveled at this wonderful place but now it is time to open it up to those less willing to go the extra mile for those mystery caches.

I was told that many would never see this wonderful place because of the unseen markings of the lowly mystery cache. To this, I say thee nay!! I also say this, “If you find yourself placing a cache and it is rejected because of proximity issues to an unseen part of some other cache, then please, by all means, contact that cache owner and ask how you can work your cache in to the same area as theirs.”

I, as well as just about any other cacher, will work with you to help you as best as possible to fit your cache in to that area. I too have been on the receiving end of this dilemma. Lashing out with nasty emails or inappropriate logs is not the way to handle this situation. If you read the information about the Landis Arboretum, you will find that it consists of 548 acres and over six miles of trails. In comparison, the Crossings Town Park of Colonie has about 130 acres and it hosts five caches, two of which are multi-caches. By this math, there should be the possibility of approximately 20 caches that could be placed in the arboretum. This is just one…
