Border Crossings # 2 - Berkshire / Hampshire Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Uncle E: It was actually 6 years ago to the day, when I first placed this cache and since then, there have been over 100 finds, but unfortunately, this cache has had its problems. It has been muggled and/or gone missing five times and the notice boards at two of the waypoints with clues for the final co-ords, have been vandalised in the past.

Those who have placed caches will know that it takes a reasonable amount of effort to set caches and therefore, I have always been reluctant to archive any caches that I have set, choosing to maintain or replace them, when required, however, as it appears that this cache has gone missing once again, with regret, I think that it is time to archive this one.

Many thanks to those who have visited this cache and enjoyed the walk and many thanks for your comments.

There are some nice walks in this area and so, at least by archiving this cache, it will allow others to place caches in the area.

Geocache Description:

This is the second cache in my Border Crossings series.

The other caches in this series are …

Border Crossings # 1 - Surrey / Berkshire

Border Crossings # 3 - Surrey / Hampshire

Border Crossings # 4 - Berkshire / Oxfordshire

This multi-cache starts in Berkshire, takes you across the Berkshire / Hampshire border and finishes in Hampshire.

The distance from the car park to the cache and back, is just under a mile and a half. Please note that although the terrain is fairly flat (and can be a little muddy in places), the route goes over a bridge with steps.

The co-ordinates above, are not for the cache, but for the Sandhurst Memorial Park car park.

The first clues can be found at …

N 51 20.664 W 000 47.523

… where there is a notice board with a map, on which the number of the Scout Headquarters is A and the number of the Sandhurst Town Football Club is B.

The next clue can be found at …

N 51 20.506 W 000 47.521

… where there are C black seats.

The next clue can be found at …

N 51 20.457 W 000 47.456

… where there is a notice board that states that the Trust manages over DE nature reserves. (It has been reported that unfortunately, this notice board has been burnt down. Perhaps it will be replaced at a later date, but in the meantime, the answer to this clue is DE = 90).

The next clues can be found at ...

N 51 20.407 W 000 47.443

… where there is a notice board that states that Shepherd Meadows is a FG hectare area and that the Blackwater Valley Path is a HJ km recreational route.

The location of the cache – which is a small container - can found by substituting the letters in the following code, for the numbers revealed by the answers to the clues.

N 51 20.(F+G)(D-C+2)(A+H+1) W 000 48.(J-7)(B-5)(E+4)
